Welcome to the Symphony support FAQ! > Known issues: general > Symphony crashes on startup! Help!

In most cases, the issue is either caused by:

 

  • hardware incompatibility (make sure your video card supports shaders version 3!)
  • Windows 8 issues (we are investigating those)
  • QuickTime install issues
    • reinstalling QuickTime has fixed some of the startup issues. In some cases, QuickTime had to be removed with software called "Revo Uninstaller",  then a "QuickTime alternative" was installed.
    • Note: as much as we want to have a bulletproof solution to OS/install issues, we cannot test every possible configuration so use of third party software is at your own risk!
